I Want to Live

Back in 1977 John Denver released an album entitled I Want to Live. The album took its name from 1 of the songs on 2nd side of the record. In 1978 he released the song as a single. & while the song was actually written about children who were suffering from malnutrition, war etc, I always hear something different. What I hear is the voice of the unborn being snuffed out by abortion. I especially hear that voice in the chorus:

"I want to live, I want to grow
I want to see, I want to know
I want to share what I can give
I want to be, I want to live"

I know that he didn't intend it to be such a strong song calling for the right of every child to be born, but IMHO that is exactly what this song says. As the last verse says:

"no more killing

No more wasting life away

It is simply an idea

And I know it’s time has come"

How much longer are we going to deny every child the right to experience life? How long are we going to ignore those voices? How much longer are we going to deny those unborn children the right to live? How much longer will they be denied the right to enjoy life as the childen in this video are able to????

Every time I hear this song it tears at my heart & brings tears to my eyes to think of how many children are being murdered every day. I hear their voices crying out "I WANT TO LIVE!"
