2 recent events once again show how sick & twisted the minds of those sold out to the "culture of death" are.
1st we go to Washington DC. On Thursday the US Senate, by a
vote of 61-39, passed an amendment propoesed by Sen. Barbara Mikulski, a pro-abortion Maryland Democrat. She offered Amendment No. 2791 dealing with federally mandated coverage of "preventive care."
Sounds good, until you realize how it is worded & what that could include. The amendment states that anything classified as preventive care or screenings for women by the Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) would become a mandated covered service. This means that if the bill becomes law & HHS Secretary Sibelius says so, abortion could be considered "preventative care" & mandated coverage in all health care plans. The last I looked, "preventative care" was supposed to help prolong life not end it as abortion does.
In a letter sent to Congress opposing the amendment, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) said a similar amendment that was proposed in the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pension was backed by a gamut of pro-abortion groups, including Planned Parenthood and NARAL. In his analysis for LifeNews.com today, NRLC legislative director Douglas Johnson indicated that other sections of the bill that bars the HHS Secretary from putting abortion on the "essential health benefits package" list would no longer be relevant because "every health plan in the U.S. would already be forced to cover all abortions under the global 'preventive care' mandate issued under authority of Sec. 1001 of the bill, as amended by Mikulski."
Then there was the following comment made at a recent “Stop Stupak” rally on Capitol Hill staged by major pro-abortion groups such as Planned Parenthood, NARAL-Pro Choice, and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) [In other words, the usual pro-abortion suspects] by Rev. Carlton Veazey, president and CEO of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. He told the crowd of pro-abortion protesters that women have a “God-given right” to abortion. He also said that opposition from pro-life congressmen and religious leaders would never take it away. “Don’t let anybody tell you that religious people don’t support choice. You not only have a constitutional right for abortion, but you have a God-given right.”
While he may sincerely believe that, it shows how little he knows of what the Church has consistantly taught for 2000 years. (Or is ignoring.) Abortion was never considered a God-given right by anyone who truly worships the "God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob". It is only a god-given right if you worship a false god that is demonic in origin who demands that abortion be a sacrament performed by its worshippers. In other words, it IS NOT a God-given right. Abortion is demonic in origin.
Something else he said shows how they are willing to lie & twist things as well as attack the Catholic Church for standing up for life. “We are also here to call out the U.S. Conference of [Catholic] Bishops, because no one religion, no theological perspective should get the kind of weight that they can [to] put pressure on the Congress.”
"Hold the whole Congress up and say, ‘If we don't get our way, we will work against health reform,’” said Veazy. “We in the religious community resent that. We believe that no religion should carry that kind of weight in legislation.” Wait a minute, isn't that exactly what he is trying to do? FYI The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice represents such denominations as the United Methodist Church, Episcopal Church, Presbyterian Church (USA) & the United Church of Christ. So it is OK for them to throw their weight behind abortion, but wrong for the Catholic Church to oppose it?
Once again we see the "Father of Lies" using his followers to spread those lies by calling abortion "preventaitve healthcare" that is a "god-given right" rather than what it really is, murder.
