I Guess This Is What Sr. Patricia Means by "working with Sr. Donna to resolve the matter appropriately"*

Sr. Donna Quinn has taken her anti-life stance to a whole new, & IMHO opinion, blasphemous stance by claiming that the Blessed Virgin Mary was pro-chioce & was behind the failure Tuesday the Nelson-Hatch Amendment. After the vote she sent out a thank you note to those who lobbied for the defeat of the amendment.
The Amendment lost today but now the work will be to take this Bill and come out with the same good news when the Senate and House work together,” Quinn said. For her, good news means federal funding of abortion & requiring every private insurance policy to cover it as well.
Not that it surprizes me to see her take this stand. It was quite clear that she wasn't going to go quietly, nor was her order going to really do anything about her, despite the claims of her prioress, Sr. Patricia. My dealings with them after my letter to the editor was enough to convince me that the prioress supports her & was unhappy that the truth got out. & even less surprizing are her sources she draws upon for justifying her take on the BVM.
I was reminded of being with men and women from the Unitarian faith tradition last year as they celebrated Mary who by her assent, they believed, was one of the first women in the New Testament to express Choice,” she said in the thank you. Did you get that, Unitarian church teaching trumps Catholic doctrine in her mine.
But given a dissident Catholic group she uses as another source, that shouldn't be surprizing. This time it is to justify her actions She does it by citing an article in the magazine "Conscience" published by the organization Catholics for Choice. (Very pro-abortion dissident group)
She quoted writer Sr. Jeannine Gramick SSND. “Faithful and respectful dissent is vital to the life of the church. It enables the church community to think, to deliberate, to debate and to grow in relationship to one another and in relationship to God. We cannot afford to let our dissenters be silenced. They are a gift to our church."
In this case, since the dissent comes from following the example of Satan & saying "My will not God's will be done." this is not a gift. It is an evil straight out of hell. (Which I am sure she doesn't believe in either.
That article that Sr. Donna quotes from is 1 that approvingly mentions Sr. Quinn's own advocacy of abortion & radical feminism. Sr. Jeannine Gramick has herself refused to obey an order from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith silencing her for her attitude towards homosexuality. She was the co-founder, with Fr. Robert Nugent SDS, of "New Ways Ministry." Among the things they denied was the Catholic teaching regarding "the intrinsic evil of homosexual acts and the objective disorder of the homosexual inclination." (VATICAN DISCIPLINES DISSIDENT MINISTRY TO HOMOSEXUALS)
The way the Chicago Tribune covered it reveals a lot about their slant as well. The article, Pro-choice nun still fighting for women's care, was posted on Chicago Tribune religion reporter Manya Brachear's blog, The Seeker. 2 terms say it all, pro-choice & women's care. Pro-choice, not pro-abortion & defining that choice, abortion as women's care, not the murder of an innocent child which is what it really is.
Meanwhile, back here in the Tristate area, Sr. Donna's actions are not being allowed to pass by quitely. Over at St. Mary's Catholic Church in E DBQ, Fr. Parker will have the following statement in next Sunday's bulletin: "Fr. Barry & I encourage you NOT to support the Sinsinawa Dominicans in any way. Members of their community continue to support the abortion industry. Recently one of their members, Sr. Donna Quinn, "said that the defeat of the pro-life Nelson amendment on the feast of the Immaculate Conception was "providential" and that Mary was the first woman in the bible to express "choice." The Nelson amendment to the health-care bill, which would have restricted federal funds from being used to fund abortions, has been defeated 54-45. This should be a sad day for all Catholics, but it is not. On the day the church honors the Immaculate Conception, or conception of the Virgin Mary, Sr. Quinn sent a thank you note to those who lobbied their senators to vote against the Nelson-Hatch Amendment, which lost in a 54-45 Senate vote earlier today" (http://www.creativeminorityreport.com/) Some other friends are organizing a prayer gathering in front of the Sinsinawa Dominican Motherhouse.
As I said, none of this surprizes me, disgusts me, yes, surprizes, NO! As I said before, Sr. Patricia is hoping this will die down quietly. But as long as Sr. Donna keeps speaking out & the leadserhsip refuses to act as they should people here in DBQ & elsewhere are going to continue to stand up & speak out to Sr. Patricia as well as make others aware of the situation.
