Lord of the Rings - 1944

What might have been:



OK, technically, a Lord of the Rings movie in 1944 was impossible at the books weren't published yet, but maybe we could have seen a version of The Hobbit instead.

Anyway, why not? If Steve Martin & Carl Reiner can take old movies & meld them into a modern movie as they did in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, then why not use classic movies to make The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings? (For a little more on this version check out The Flying Moose .)
