If They Are Truly Catholic, Why Are They On Emily's List?

No one, least of all someone who exercises leadership in society, can rightfully claim to share fully and practically the Catholic faith and yet act publicly in a way contrary to that faith.
-U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops in “Living the Gospel of Life.”
Emily's Girls
Pro-abortion Group Emily's List Endorses Catholic Politicians in the 2010 Race The women endorsed in the 2010 race include some new faces, some very familiar faces and unfortunately, too many Catholic faces.

Emily's List spends millions of dollars supporting the campaigns of pro-abortion rights women. They advocate for complete and unrestricted access to abortion.
EMILY's List boasts that they are the largest political action committee (PAC) with more than 100,000 members. Since its founding in 1985, EMILY's List has raised over $240 million and claims to have helped elect 80 pro-choice Democratic women to the U.S. House, 15 to the U.S. Senate, and nine women Governors to state houses.
Pro-abortion women candidates benefit greatly when landing an endorsement from Emily's List. For the 2007-2008 election cycle, Emily's List raised $43 million to help elect the pro-abortion women they endorsed. A small percentage of the money goes directly to the candidates themselves, Emilys List like many PAC's uses their funds directly to influence specific races. Thus far, for the 2010 midterm election, Emily's List has receipts of over $9 million.
Emily's List has endorsed eighteen women for 2010 races. While twelve are incumbents with proven track records advancing abortion rights; five are candidates for the U.S. Senate and House, and one is a Gubernatorial candidate for the state of Florida.
Eight Catholic women have been endorsed by Emily's List so far, up from four Catholics in the 2008 election; three incumbent U.S. Senators, a senate candidate and four incumbent U.S. Representatives.
Over the years Emily's List has directed over $700,000 to these three CatholicSenators; $460,000 to Senator Murray, $118,000 to Mikulski and $135,000 to Gillibrand. Emily's List would report that their monetary investment has seen great returns. All three senators have received high marks from abortion rights groups--100% from Planned Parenthood and NARAL for their anti-life votes.
Massachusetts will hold a special election in January to fill the seat held by late Senator Ted Kennedy. Martha Coakley, a Democrat candidate has been endorsed by Emily's List and received over $100,000 in help. If she is elected, Coakley like her predecessor Senator Kennedy, and the now senior senator of MA Senator Kerry, she too will be a Catholic advancing abortion rights.
The four pro-choice Catholic U.S. Congresswomen receiving endorsements are Representatives Mary Jo Kilroy (D-OH), Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-D), Betsy Markey (CO-D), and Carol Shea- Porter (NH-D). Emily's List has donated over $600,000 to these women in previous elections.
Emily's List has donated over $160,000 to 2010 candidates. According to figures reported to the FEC and posted at opensecrets.org, pro-life groups have raised just over $4,000. In the two previous mid-term elections pro-abortion groups, with the bulk coming from Emil's List, donated over four times the amount of pro-life groups.
In 2010 we must do a better job of educating faithful Catholic citizens about their responsibility to elect candidates that will work for policy that protects and defends all human life. We must respectfully encourage our Church leadership to meet with Catholic lawmakers to make sure they have a clear understanding of the social teachings of the Church. And finally, to counter the efforts of Emily's List, we must be willing to contribute financially to the campaigns of pro-life candidates if we want to elect pro-life individuals who will advance a culture of life.

Emily's List (Early Money Is Like Yeast) is not infallible, despite their belief that they are. The recent events up in New York's 23rd district show that people want Pro-life candidates. & while Emily's List didn't contribute to Dede Scozzafava's race since she was a Republican they will be contributing to plenty of pro-abortion Democrats. That is why it is important to support Pro-life candidates, including funancially if possible. & 1 effective way to help across the USA is to support the Susan B. Anthony List Fund.
PS: It should come as no surprize that Nancy Pelosi is another of those Catholics In Name Only who is buddy buddy w/ Emily's List. All the more reason why we should support groups like SBA List that work to elect women who are Pro-life.
