Mix Congress' rush to turn our health care system into a mess like England's is & add the propensity of some judges on the Supreme Court to let other countries' laws & court rulings trump the Constitution & you have the potential for this happenning in a not too distant future here in the USA:
A transsexual refused breast enlargement surgery on the NHS is to take her case to the High Court, at a cost of tens of thousands of pounds to the hospital's budget.
Published: 9:33AM BST 08 Oct 2009
The legally aided gender dysphoria sufferer, who has been living as a woman for over 10 years, says breast augmentation is essential to her female identity and emotional well-being and the refusal to give her the op amounts to sex discrimination.
Her unique test case against the West Berkire Primary Care Trust (PCT), in which the the Equality and Human Rights Commission will also be playing a part, is now set for hearing at the High Court on October 20.
& here is what I see as the saddest part of this whole waste of time & money for West Berkshire, where the money could go instead:
But, at a preliminary hearing, the PCT's barrister, David Lock, bemoaned the heavy cost of defending the case - with cash that would otherwise be used for treating patients.
& look at what comes up next that Obama, Reid, Pelosi et al claim won't happen here:
He told Judge Nicola Davies QC: "Public bodies who have to make rationing decisions, like PCTs, face enormous difficulties. Wherever you draw the line, there will be those who are disappointed. (emphasis mine)
Did you get that? Public rationing, & opening the door for court cases that will use up the already limited funds which would probably result in more rationing or higher taxes. You know damn well that, with the Dems in charge, limits on lawsuits won't be in place to stop this.
Meanshile over at Newsbusters we have this latest bit about the domestic version of health care reform from Massachusetts that has been tauted as such a great thing:
As the article says in part:
the Boston Globe's Liz Kowalczyk has inconveniently reminded statists (HT Hot Air) that the alleged wonders of the Bay State's care regimen are instead leading it inexorably into serious rationing, and to a direct contradiction of Obama's and Patrick's core claims. Currently on the horizon are serious limitations on choice of care providers and annual capitated payments to those providers. Kowalczyk would probably protest that she never uses the word "rationing," but it really doesn't matter. Anyone with even a modicum of sense will recognize these moves for what they are. (emphasis mine)
Rationing again is rearing its ugly head. & let's not forget that abortion is still a part of the mix. The US version won't have a variety of bodies, just HHS. & when someone is in charge like Sibelius who favors abortion & doesn't have anything there to the contrary, abortion will rear its ugly head, on our dime.
& even if it isn't included, who is to say that a judge won't rule that it must be. That is why we must remember the battle involving health care is just that, a battle, not the war. As long as the unborn are not protected by a human life amendment they are truly the most endangered species here on Earth.
I support true health care reform. What is going through Congress right now is not, regardless of the bill. They are all attempts to destroy what is, despite its flaws, the best health care system in the universe.
