Fr. Rosica Expands His Attack to Anyone Who Dares to Disagree With Him

A couple of days ago I posted a LifeSiteNews article about Fr. Rosica's attacks on EWTN & LifeSiteNews. I followed this with my take on Fr. Rosica's action. Well, he's at it again. & this time he has taken aim at any of us who support EWTN &/or LifeSiteNews. (For the record, I have donated to both.) As LifeSiteNews reports, in an interview w/ the Toronto diocese's Catholic Register Fr. Rosica blames the news service for death threats, and "vile, vile phone calls" he says he has received.

"It's a mixture of the LifeSite crowd, LifeSite subscribers combined with EWTN viewers who have now set themselves above the church," he goes on to say. & aiming particularly at LSN he says: "When they run up against somebody they disagree with they condemn them and they do an ad hominem attack. It's character assassination."

After reading his latest screed, I have come to the following conclusion. Sadly, he is sounding to me like he is on the edge of a total breakdown & ready for a padded cell. I don't say that to make light of him, but because he is sounding more & more paranoid & delusional. & part of that delusion seems to be that he is the only authentic spokesman for the Catholic Church in (at least) North America. He is the 1 setting himself above the Church.

OK, there will always be a few out there who truly do set themselves up as more Catholic than the Pope. But LifeSiteNews EWTN & the rest of us who have spoken up about the Kennedy scandal are anything but what he claims. We are the ones who love the Church & are defending its teachings.

& yes, there has been some lack of civility. But at this point most of it seems to be coming from Fr. Rosica through his attacks on those who are speaking up out of love for the Church. Fr. Rosica might do well to remember that canon law does allow us to speak up w/ concerns we have.

I am sorry to hear that Fr. Rosica is getting threats & hate mail. It is wrong. I have been on the receiving end of some nasty remarks & attacks as well. So has anyone who has taken a Pro-Life stand. I highly doubt most of us would respond in kind as Fr. Rosica is implying.

His blaming LifeSiteNews etc for the threats etc is reminiscent of is reminiscent of what the Pro-abortion gang said after Tiller's murder. Remember, they put the blame on the entire Pro-Life movement for calling Tiller a murderer & said that it was wrong to do so. He is using the same tactic.

Also, Fr. Rosica is conveniently ignoring his attacks on others in his blog as well as the venom & vitriol he has spewed towards those of us unhappy about how the Kennedy funeral was handled.

How LifeSiteNews has covered things is nothing like this. They have never called for or encouraged any venom & vitriol on the part of its readers.. In fact, time after time, & not just w/ Fr. Rosica, LifeSiteNews has linked to LSN's guidelines for composing effective communications. They have done just the opposite of what Fr. Rosica said they did.

Rosica like to point out that he sits on the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. He might do well to remember that 1 of those he is upset about speaking out is Judie Brown. She is a Corresponding Member, Pontifical Academy for Life (member/advisor). & Human Life International has a working relationship w/ that same council.

I am more convinced than ever that Fr. Rosica is motivated, at least in part, by jealousy. Jealousy at EWTN for being more successful than he is. But also w/ all those Pro-lifers who support EWTN, LifeSiteNews & other Pro-life groups that have the courage to speak up & defend the truth.

Speaking of jealousy, what Catholic News Service director and editor-in-chief Tony Spence had to say in the Catholic Register article could be filed under that heading. CNS isn't exactly noted for its lack of bias. In its own way it is often just as slanted as the main stream media & in the same direction. & it has been caught in error or failing to properly cover things more than once by the blog-o-sphere. His comments lump everyone of us who have a blog into 1 group, a group he dismisses with didain. I find that ironic since CNS has its own blog. His comments remind me of how the MSM has lashed out against those who have broken their monopoly.

I repeat again, that there are a few who do spew hate & vitreol. But the majority of bloggers & organizations like EWTN & LifeSiteNews are not. We are trying to get the truth out. We are standing up out of love for the Catholic Church to defend it & promote its authentic teachings. & most of the attacks seem to be coming from those who don't want the light of God's truth to shine out. They prefer the darkness rather than the light.
