The Tragic Historical Legacy That Will be Obama's Presidency

Today is the Innauguration of Barack Hussein Obama II as the 1st Kenyan-American President. Much has been said about this being an historic moment. While technically, every presidential innauguration is historical, this 1 is historical in a way that has been mostly ignored.
They are making a big thing about the fact that he is the 1st black to be elected. & how far we have come from the days when slavery was legal in the USA. Fine, as far as that goes. But, there is a little more to it. Because of his views on abortion Obama is basically betraying everyone of African descent who had an ancestor who was a slave. Why do I say that? Because the view of slaves was that they were property, with no rights. Today, those who are pro-abortion view the unborn child as something less than human with no rights.
Science knows the truth, that a new person is conceived when the egg is fertilized by a sperm. & someday that same right to life that is currently denied to them by US law will be given back to them, just like it was restored to every person who was being held as a slave back in the 1800s.
& when it does, everything that Obama has done & will do to help the abortion industry will be looked on in the same way that what was done back then to politically protect slavery is looked on now. In fact, it will be even worse for Obama because people will say he should have known better than to go along with the same ideology that allowed slavery.
As I child, like Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. I hoped I would see the day when skin color didn't matter in electing a person. I hoped to see the day when that would mean the 1st black person would be elected. Unfortunately, that hope has been tarnished for both of us by the fact that Obama is so radically pro-abortion.

There is hope for him to redeem himself. & that is part of why we need to pray for him as Scripture & Catholic teaching calls us to do.
