Today is the 161st birthday of the 2nd inventor of the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell. Antonio Meucci actually came up with the 1st system in about 1860 & called it the teletrofono. & it was an Italiano, Don Ameche (nee Amici) who played Bell in the movies (1939).

& while many advances in communication were wrought as a result of the phone, thus affecting our culture, probably the greatest contribution to out culture was that the phone enabled Lily Tomlin to create the all time #1 Telephone Operator of all time, Ernestine.
