The 5 Stages of Mourning - Summorum Pontificum Edition

As a public service for all of you who have friends who are violently, vehemently, bitterly, angrily, ______________(fill in the blank) opposed to allowing greater use of the 1962 Missal of Blessed John XXIII of Happy Memory here are the 5 stages of mourning as they apply to those Catholic Moonbats who see liturgy as a tool of their agenda to undermine orthodox Catholic teachings & practices.

1. Denial - "No, the Pope couldn't! He didn't!" This is found in the comments saying that only a few older people who remember the older liturgy & well as "a new generation of conservative young people, who Reese believes have become enamored by Latin for the wrong reasons" (Refering to former America editor Fr. Thomas Reese) will want it & that the majority will stick with them. I will grant that many will not want to go to Mass regularly using the 1962 Missal form of the liturgy. Rather it will encourage them to demand that Bishop Trautamn et al who encourage "Mendacious Banality" to shut up, & support Bishop Arthur Serratelli's call to let the Novus Ordo be finally accurately & faithfully translated as well as demand an end to the "billions & billions" of liturgical abuses their ilk not only tollerates, but actually encourages. (Note: With the long period of rumors leading up to the actually release, many of those opposed to the Moto Proprio's release have already gone through this as well as the next stage.)

2. Anger - Already seen in those who have been decrying the 1962 Missal as having anti-Semetic prayers on Good Friday, that this is a negation of Vatican II, etc from the very moment Summorum Pontificum was released. (Pope Angers Jews, Liberals With Rite)

3. Bargaining - See The Six Stages of Dissenting from the M.P. for what Fr. Philip N. Powell, OP describes as the reaction of what he calls the Permanent Liturgical Revolution Cadre (PLRC) for an excellent description of what this stage will be like. It won't be real bargaining, but an actualization of the above 2 steps to enable them to operate in their own little fantasy world.

When finally forced to admit that their fantasy world is just that, most will go onto the next stage:

4. Depression - When it dawns on them that a much larger number of people want & support the greater use of the 1962 Missal then they hope are out there actually exists as well as seeing the uprising of those who support the Novus Ordo & demand its being accurately translated & FAITHfully & reverently said (see #1 above) a majority will finally have to reach this stage. The results will be a greater withdrawal by the huge majority of them to those few "congregations" where the (false) "Spirit of Vatican II" still operates. (Sort of like a support group for dealing with their depression.) & while they look with sorrow at the rest of us, we will be finally free of most of them & the true "Spirit of Vatican II" as "found in the Letter of Vatican II" (Thanx Fr. Trigilio) will finally be able to fully operate & flourish as God desired over 40 yrs ago. (Note: while most will reach this stage, they will still also remain mired in the other 3 steps as well.)

5. Acceptance - While a few may actually reach this stage in their lifetimes & stop fighting the use/existance of the 1962 Missal (& some may actually return to orthodoxy & faithfulness), about 99.999% will not reach this stage until 3 days after they face their last judgement. (For those that reach this stage they may want to try out Milk of Magisterium, available from your local Latin Rite Aid & highly recommended by Jeff Miller of The Curt Jester.)
