Spring - When the PC Wackos Thoughts Turn to Stupidity

I wonder if the PC wackos realize what they are really doing is insulting all the pagan envirnmentalist nature worshippers by this?

The reason I say that is that the word Easter is derived from the Old English word Ēastre or Ēostre. The word was used in the ancient Germanic calendar for the equivalent of our April. It was named after the goddess Ēostre of Anglo-Saxon paganism.

As for the Easter Egg, the Christian Church adopted it as a sign of the new life that was a result of Jesus' death & resurrection, but a part of its origins were pagan. The egg was used to symbolize Spring, fertility & the new life that came with it. So you can see why it was easily adopted into Christianity by refocusing the symbolism. A roasted egg called Betzah (ביצה) is a part of the Passover Seder as well. As I said the Christian Church adopted the egg & the coloring of them became symbolic. In some places they were dyed red to symbolize Christ's blood. In other areas designs were put on them. In Eastern Europe they took it to an art form that is unsurpassed. The eggs are decorated using a wax-resist (batik) method that starts by dying the egg with the lightest color, then covering the part they want to remain that color with wax, they dye the next darker color. This continues for as many colors as are needed for the design. Then the wax is melted off to reveal the design.

The Easter grass in the baskets was meant to copy the nest where the eggs were laid.

As for the Easter Bunny. The rabbit was a pagan symbolism for fertility also. They also have a sort of nest where they care for their young. & along the way the nests were merged.

& while here in English speaking countries we use the word Easter, most languages use a word derived from the Latin word Pascha which was derived from Hebrew Pesach (פֶּסַח) meaning the festival of Passover. & for those that don't, their term for Easter ties into the Resurrection in some other way.

For Christians, there is nothing wrong with us having Easter eggs, the Easter bunny, etc, as long as we keep things in proper perspective, that they are a reminder of what Jesus did for us in His death & rising.

The PC gang may not realize it, but besides showing their intolerance toward Christianity they are also showing their intolerance to paganism as well. This is the same gang that demands that tolerance towards paganism. They are showing us their hypocricy in full form.

& while the PC police may think they are once again giving Christianity the boot, what they are really doing is showing their ignorance. & even more so, their arrogance.
