I Agree With EWTN, They Did the Right Thing In Taking Fr. Corapi Off

Apparently some people aren't happy that EWTN did the right thing in suspending the airong of Fr. Corapi's programs while the charges against him are being investingated.

To those who are upset, I have 1 thing to say: "GET OVER IT!!!!!"

EWTN had to do what it did. I expected them to suspend airing his show as soon as the news came out. I wouldn't have expected anything less. As EWTN president Michael Warsaw said on 1 April “EWTN has an obligation to uphold the discipline and teachings of the Church.” He went on to add “In this case, Fr. John’s own religious superior has made the determination to place him on administrative leave and feels it best that Fr. John not exercise public ministry at this time.”

Fr. Corapi’s religious superior obviously believes that this was the prudent and appropriate course of action.”

Additionally Warsaw said that although the network does not know the details of the case, “as Catholics, we are obliged to give deference and the benefit of the doubt to the religious superior who does know.”

He went on to make the following point “A priest has no right to public ministry in the Church on his own. He cannot function publicly without the express permission of his bishop or religious superior. That is the discipline of the Church.”

Regardless of how you feel about the process being flawed, it is the process that is in effect. & EWTN had to abide by it as well. EWTN is simply following a policy that it has always followed, "to discontinue airing programs featuring any cleric whose priestly faculties have been suspended, even if temporarily.” & that is why I knew they would do so in this case.

I won't go into the specific attacks, the article (link below) does that & there is no need for me to repeat them. I will simply add my plea to say stop attacking the messenger. EWTN has always done its best to be faithful to the Magesterium & discipline of the Church. When it come to the discipline they have not always done things perfectly, but never did they intentionally do something wrong. & when the mistakes were pointed out EWTN did correct how things were done. Or the Vatican gave permission after the fact.

I am continuing to pray that the truth will come out & I hope that Fr. Corapi will be exhonorated. In the meantime I echo what Warsaw said & call on everyone "to continue to pray that this matter will be resolved quickly and that Fr. John’s programs can be returned to the airwaves.”
