So Bad It's Good - Plan 9 From Outer Space

Declared the worst movie ever made by Michael Medved, it could well be. But that is what makes it so great, how bad it is. & IMHO the opening scene where Criswell* talks about the future is the best of the worst:

"Greetings, my friend. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future. You are interested in the unknown... the mysterious. The unexplainable. That is why you are here. And now, for the first time, we are bringing to you, the full story of what happened on that fateful day. We are bringing you all the evidence, based only on the secret testimony, of the miserable souls, who survived this terrifying ordeal. The incidents, the places. My friend, we cannot keep this a secret any longer. Let us punish the guilty. Let us reward the innocent. My friend, can your heart stand the shocking facts of grave robbers from outer space?"

*Criswell was an alledged psychic who's track record was less then steller, in fact it was even worse than the movie. In his 1968 book, Criswell Predicts: From Now to the Year 2000, he predicted mass cannibalism & the end of planet Earth, on August 18, 1999. But like many a false prophet, despite how far off he was people still listened to him. & many, like Mae West, believed him. He predicted she would be president of the USA & that her, him & Liberace's brother George would take a rocket to the moon. Follow the link to the website to see how truly bad he was.

But, as I said, he was popular & that is why Ed Wood used him. Thus giving him what has to be absolutely my favorite worst lines to ever be said in a movie.

Obviously this is not condoning what he did or stood for. In fact, as the Bible & Catholic teaching reminds us, we are NOT to seek out psychics. Instead, this should serve as a reminder that to trust in people like him is to deny that God is in control & that we should trust in God alone. It also shows how far off you can get when you turn away from God.
