CCHD to Award Someone With Ties to Group That Supports ObamaCare, Abortion

Over at the USCCB website there is an article announcing Janine Carreiro is Winner of 2010 CCHD Cardinal Bernardin New Leadership Award. The article said "Janine Carreiro, executive director of Brockton Interfaith Community (BIC) in Brockton, Massachusetts." Given how it recently came out that The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW), 1 of the groups spotlighted in the Catholic Campaign for Human Development document the Bishops will look at next week, participates in promotion of abortion, homosexual “rights”, and other issues in conflict with Catholic social and moral teaching, red flags quickly went up. ( CCHD Renewal Document Spotlights Radical Grantee ). So I decided to do a wee bit of research on Ms. Carreiro & BIC. This is what I found:
BIC is affiliated with the Massachusetts Congregations Action Network (MCAN) which includes 5 other like-minded organizations in Massachusetts, and the PICO Network which is made up of 53 other broad-based power organizations across the nation. (Brockton Interfaith Community (BIC))
Notice that it says that BIC is affiliated with PICO National Network. From the PICO Bringing Health Reform Home webpage: "Our PICO membership joined the fight to pass federal health care legislation because we shared a common desire to see reform make life better for our own families, friends and communities. Our continued engagement will be important to defending reform against powerful special interests that will try to water it down and to successfully implementing reform in our own communities over the next four years." & in 1 of its news articles about health care reform it says: "One coalition of mostly liberal and centrist religious groups was organized by Sojourners, an evangelical group; Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good; Faith in Public Life, a Washington think tank; and PICO National Network, an alliance of 1,000 U.S. congregations."
Yes, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, a group that has received funding from George Soros, who gives to groups that support his leftist agenda, including abortion. In 2008 they released a report claiming pro-life laws do not work, and welfare is the best way to stop abortion. See Jill Stanek's article Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good reworks pro-abortion study for more on how the report was used to provide cover for Catholics to support Obama's election.
Is it just me, or do I smell another scandal brewing? Time will tell.
