My Name Is Allen J. Troupe & I Definitely Approve of This Ad

put in Friday's TH by DBQ Co Right to Life:

Protest Planned Parenthood

Jill Stanek reported an interesting fact on her blog Sunday. It has to do with last month's Iowa Board of Medicine meeting. Remember that the IBOM only allowed 7 pro-life people into what was supposed to be an open meeting that anyone should have been able to attend. & then they put a limit on how long they could speak, all without advance warning. (Note: 1 small correction on my post about this. I found out it was Colleen Pasnik, not Steve Brody who represented DCRTL.) Here is what she wrote:

"Well, the IBOM just posted its meeting notes and one person quietly observing events was Mike Falkstrom, PP of the Heartland’s staff attorney.

This is the same guy IBOM tipped off that a citizens group had requested licensing and complaint information of abortionist Susan Haskell, giving him time to file an injunction to stop that information’s release." (Ad: Do parents want home alone abortions for their daughters?, more on Falkstrom here.)

Interesting, isn't it? While I have no objections to a member of PP's staff being there, why was the Iowa Open meetings law broken when it came to allowing Pro-lifers in the public part of the meeting? But this whole thing just makes it look like PPH & the IBOM are in bed together & that despite everything PPH will be allowed to put women at risk by their abuse of the telemed process. & if that happens, DBQ will definitely be in line for an expansion of that process.

Meanwhile, according to this morning's TH Iowa's Attorney General Miller, who can't be bothered with investigating his buddies at PP does have the time to go arround Iowa promoting a mortgage foreclosure hotline. OK, that does come under protecting consumers. But when it comes to protecting consumers against the dangerous practices of PP or fighting their criminal actions, PP gets a pass. He claims that isn't part of the AG role.Apparently Miller hasn't looked at the Iowa AG website that says this is a part of his job. On the AG website he may claim that "Fighting crime has always been one of his top priorities." It also states that "Protecting consumers is one of Tom Miller's highest priorities." But it is quite clear that when it comes to PP he throws those priorities out the window. PP's wants & needs take higher priority than protecting the people of Iowa. He says "I consider it my duty and my privilege to be the people's lawyer." What he should say is that he is PP's lawyer & advocate & when it comes to them he doesn't give a damn about his duty to the rest of us.
