I have to preface this by saying that they are my cousins & back in the early 70s I worked there. So, I have seen the good, the bad & the ugly. (Don't worry, I won't share them.) I remember when they 1st openned in 1959 as a Drive-In. My Dad was a bartender there after he retired from the US Air Force. Luigi's dad, my Uncle Joe, & my Grandpa Giovanni Stasi were brothers.
Over the years many changes have occurred in my hometown of Oelwein. Because of things like the '68 tornado, the loss of the Chicago Great Western Rail Road & some other things, not all of them have been for the good. It is good to see that despite all the changes, 1 thing that has played a huge part of my life is still going strong.
So I say congratulations!
CENT'ANNI!!!!!

OELWEIN – Fifty years and still growing strong,
Luigi’s Restaurant and Lounge has seen steady growth in the years they have been in existence.
They are celebrating that growth and longevity this week by hosting customer appreciation week with specials everyday this week.
Luigi’s Restaurant and Lounge on the corner of South Frederick and 11th Street has been operating since 1959 when Luigi “Lou” Stasi opened it. From hamburgers to carhops, disco to political gatherings, Luigi’s has been through it all.

Congratulations to Luigi's Restaurant. I hope for more success in the years to come. I'll drop by for dinner if ever I am in the area.
