The rerun of Sunday Night Live w/ Fr. Benedict Groeschel just started on EWTN. & not surprizingly, he had some things to say about a resolution adopted last week by The American Psychological Association (APA). That resolution urged mental health professionals to avoid telling clients that they can change their sexual orientation through therapy or other treatments. He also mentioned a report presented at that meeting that recommended that mental health practitioners help clients "explore possible life paths that address the reality of their sexual orientation, reduce the stigma associated with homosexuality, respect the client's religious beliefs, and consider possibilities for a religiously and spiritually meaningful and rewarding life."
Needless to say he was not happy about this. As a co-founder of Courage Apostolate he was able to speak to what was wrong with what the APA had to say. He shared a story of 1 man who did change his life. & he said the APA had no right to say what it said about religious faith. He said that he will have a full program on the topic in a few weeks.
But what I got a good laugh out of was his comment out his relationship to the APA. He has been a member for 30+ years. But he was ready to quit. This latest bit made him change his mind. Now he plans on staying & agrivating them. He will! & you can be sure that he won't be low key about it either.
