Oprah Covers Up Truth - So Much for Her Really Caring About Her Viewers
A little bit of background. On 7 April 2009, Dr. Mehment Oz appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show with Michael J. Fox to talk about stem cell research in relation to Parkinson's Disease. 1st Michael J. Fox talked about his struggle with Parkinson’s and his foundation’s endorsement of embryonic stem cell research (ESCR). Fox aspplauded President Obama’s decision lifting President Bush's restrictions on ESCR, saying it was a “step in the right direction”. He added that “we had eight years where there was no forward progress.” He went on to add that the United States has to make up for a lot of lost time. He also said that he was sure that using embryos would be done ethically.
After the commercial, Dr. Oz, vice-chair and professor of surgery at Columbia University, came on to explain how stem cells could be used to treat or cure the effects of many diseases. & while Dr. Oz had some good news to share, it wasn't the news that Oprah & Fox expected. In fact, it proved Fox wrong in his claims about the last 8 years.
Here is what Dr. Oz said:
Talk about throwing a curveball. It is clear from the look on Oprah's face & what she said, this isn't what she wanted to hear. It put the lie to all of Fox's claims as well as made her buddy Obama look bad.
Needless to say, while there was nothing she can do about what actually happenned, she has made sure that the truth got spinned on her website. It summarized Oz’s argument for adult stem cells with two short paragraphs, hidden 11 pages deep in a 13 page summary of the show:
"Thanks to recent scientific discoveries, Dr. Oz says stem cells aren’t the only solution. ‘We went to a place we never thought we would go. I can take a little bit of your skin, take those cells and get them to go back in time so they’re like they were when you were first made.’"
"Dr. Oz says these skin cells, which contain your genes and are less prone to cancer, will be the ones that are ultimately used to cure Parkinson’s. ‘I think we’re single digit years away from making a big impact in the lives of [people with] Parkinson’s disease, but also diabetics and heart attack victims."
Did you notice that Oprah.com avoided quoting what Dr. Oz said: “the stem cell debate is dead”. & not only that, but the site carefully avoided the words “stem cell” and “embryonic’ when quoting or summarizing his remarks.
Nothing about Oz contradicting Fox. Nothing about the dangers of using embryonic stem cells that Dr. Oz warned about. & nothing about the fact that Dr. Oz advocating adult stem cells as the future of medical breakthroughs. Dr. Oz didn't say "stem cealls aren't the only solution", just that there is no need for using stem cells from embryos, which he also pointed out we all were at 1 time.
Am I surprized that Oprah, New Age High Priestess & worshiper at the altar of the Obamessiah, did this cover up? NO! It undermines what Obama claims is the truth, in fact it shows that Obama is a liar. It undermined the "culture of death" that both of them are a part of. It does so with the truth. & we can't have that, can we? Not if we are Oprah!
2 things in conclusion: If this episode is ever rerun, I suspect it will be highly edited to cover up what Dr. Oz really said.
2ndly, Dr. Oz just signed his death warrant, this may well have been his last appearance on the show, or at the least, when contract time comes up, he will be let go.
