The Recession Does Have Its Good Points

My 1st question for them is, what happenned to that $100 + profit PP made last year? This again proves its all about the benjamins, not women.
2ndly, certain facts about abortion rates & the use of contraception would seem to shoot down PP's claims that greater access to contraceptions will reduce abortions. The fact is, & PP knows it, contraception does not reduce abortions. It increases the likelihood that abortions will be used as a form of contraception.

Monroe, WA (LifeNews.com) -- Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest has closed its facility in Monroe, Washington due to tough economic times. Although the center did not do abortions, it made abortion referrals to other Seattle-area Planned Parenthood centers that do both surgical and drug-induced abortions.
The center will be closed on March 31, PPGN spokesman Brian Cutler said.
"We never want to close a health center," he told the Herald newspaper. "We have come up against some harsh economic realities."
Cutler told the newspaper that the center has been operating at a loss for years, but it could afford to stay open because Planned Parenthood centers in Seattle and Tacoma made up the difference.
About 2,600 people visited the center annually to receive birth control and reproductive health services. Some women are referred to the abortion centers Planned Parenthood operates in Bothell and Seattle or to the facilities in Lake Sammamish, Laurelhurst, and Fauntelroy that distribute the dangerous mifepristone abortion drug.
The Monroe center was also affected by the opening of the Sea Mar community health center that has taken some of the customer base away from the abortion business.
Cutler says the three employees at the Monroe center will be sent to other facilities and that there are no plans to close any other Planned Parenthood centers in the Seattle area.
The number of abortions done in Washington state
is on the rise even though Planned Parenthood is receiving state funding to distribute birth control.
The Planned Parenthood of Western Washington annual report for 2007 shows the number of pregnant women visiting its facilities from declining a whopping 51 percent from 2006.
With Planned Parenthood spending millions on public relations campaign saying it wants to reduce the number of abortions, the staggering decline should lead to fewer abortions. Not so.
The PPWW annual report indicates abortions actually rose 16 percent from 7,790 in 2006 to 9,059 in 2007.
The report also reveals that the percentage of pregnancies ending in abortions at Planned Parenthood of Western Washington rose from 18 percent in 2004 to 25 percent in 2006 to 58 percent in 2007.
Mary Emanuel, who runs the web site Abortion in Washington, studied the report and also found that the abortion increase occurred despite sales of over 106,000 emergency contraception kits to Planned Parenthood customers.
