I guess extreme is what signifies the level, place you end up in. But had I gone to hell, it looks like I would have most likely been at level 7. Being Italiano in temperment, I guess that level 7 makes sense. We won't go into the appropriateness of the lustful & gluttonous levels for an Italiano.

As an aside, lately I have been wondering what kind of a field day my Paisan Dante would have with Catholics like Biden, Pelosi, Kennedy, Casey, Kmiec et al if he were writing Inferno today. I suspect Kmiec would make Level 9, Kennedy might make Level 2. Level 3, or Level 7 (Mary Jo Kopechne). The others would probably occupy various parts of Level 8. A couple of Left-Coast Bishops would probably make Level 6 along with a retired Detroit Auxiliary. & with what is going on in Boston with O'Malley & Caritas Christi Health Care, I can see a few people from there being assigned to Level 4.
