In thinking about the recent events in Amarillo & Corpus Christi, I noticed some interesting parallels.
1st of all there was the regular praying of the Rosary. I have spoken before about how powerful a weapon this is. These events help to confirm those claims.
The 2nd thing was the very active involvement of the Bishop. Notice that neither Bishop Garza nor Bishop Yanta merely called for prayer & action. Instead they took their call as shepherd seriously & led the charge, something that is all too rare in the US heirachy. 1 other bishop that comes to mind who has actively led prayer in front of a clinic is Archbishop Chaput of Denver.
Finally, in the news from Amarillo was the fact that there were Pro-Life Masses. Although it wasn't specificly mentioned in the Corpus Christi news, I think it is safe to assume that there were some Masses as well. (Again Archbishop Chaput has also sone so.)
I mention all this to emphasis something I have said again & again, that all our actions in the battle against the "culture of death" need to start & end with prayer. At the root this is a spiritual battle & we need to use the spiritual weapons God has given us if we are to ensure that even if it doesn't look like it, eventually we will see victory.
Praise God for this victories. May 2009 see many more of them.
