Recently I have talked about some ballot initiatives that are strongly Pro-Life. Unfortunately, there is 1 initiative in Washington State that celebrates the "culture of death". I-1000 is an initiative that allows assisted suicide. Of course, it couches the truth with the nice sounding "death with dignity" lie. Washington is trying to follow in the footsteps of neighboring state Oregon. Unfortunately, the track record there, as well as countries like The Netherlands, is anything but stellar. Asssisted suicide has quickly become coerced suicide & legalized murder. & like anything associated with the "culture of death" it undermines the dignity & worth of the victim.
A good example is what recently happenned in Oregon to 64 yr old Barbara Wagner. Diagnosed with cancer, she was given a prescription that gave her hope for an extended life. Unfortunately her insurer, Oregon Health Plan, didn't see it that way. Not only did they refuse to cover the medicine, the letter with the refusal told her that it would cover assisted suicide instead. Yes, the Oregon Health Plan routinely promotes assisted suicide. Shades of Baroness Warnock!!!!!
As would be expected, the pro-death supporters are pushing all the lies & ignoring the facts about what has gone on elsewhere. & they are naturally opposed to calling it what it really is, suicide. & there are all the usual suspects from the "culture of death" supporting it, including NARAL, ACLU, LGBT & the "party of death" aka the Democratic party.
But, the Coalition Against Assisted Suicide has plenty of info with documentation to show the truth, including Ms. Wagner's story. They have enlisted Martin Sheen to make TV & radio ads calling for opposition to I-1000. While the majority of Dems are behind it, I am happy to report that many are bucking their party & their supporters to do the right thing by opposing this initiative. Many disabled rights groups also see the danger in this initiative & are also speaking out against it.
I join in with Martin Sheen & the rest in opposing I-1000. Suicide is never the answer.

Sadly, it seems that those who foster this culture of death never sleep. It is a never-ending struggle.
