Robert Cabot Sherman Jr. is 65 Today

For those of you who have no idea who I am talking about, he is better known as Bobby Sherman. For those of you who are still puzzled, he was a Bubble-gum Pop music star in the late 60s & early 70s.

OK, I'll admit that I am a fan of his. But, it wasn't because of his music that I became a fan. It was because of a TV series he was in, Here Come the Brides. In the series he played Jeremy, the youngest of the Bolt Brothers. (FYI The show has some Star Trek connections. Mark Lenard, semi-villian Aaron Stempel was Spock's father Sarak. Robert Brown, Jason Bolt, made a guest appearance as Lazarus & anti-matter Lazarus, The Alternative Factor. David Soul, Joshua Bolt, made a guest appaearnce as Makora, The Apple.)

He initially started out as a regular on ABC's music series Shindig! in the mid 60s. But it was Here Come the Brides where he hit the big time & the pop charts as well as attaining his Teen Idol status.

It is that Teen Idol & Bubble-gum Pop status that hurt his status as a serious musician. He was actually a lot more talented than people give him credit for. 1 of his hits, Easy Come, Easy Go was covered by Cass Elliot (The Mamas & the Papas).

He went on to appear in a couple of other short lived series as well as making guest appearances on several others. His was married to Patti Carnel in the 70s. He has 2 sons, Christopher and Tyler as well as several grandchildren.

He is now a trained EMT works for the L.A. Police Department as a specialist officer, assigned to the training department, where he is responsible for teaching thousands of cadets first aid and CPR.

While he didn't have a hit with it like Perry Como, he did record the theme song to Here Come the Brides.
