Hymn for the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit

(From the Melkite Catholic Liturgy of the Presanctified)

Priest: Let my prayer ascend to You like incense, and the lifting up of
my hands like an evening sacrifice.
People: Let my prayer ascend to You like incense, and the lifting up of
my hands like an evening sacrifice.
Priest: 0 Lord, I have cried to You, now hear me; listen to my voice
when I call upon You.
People: Let my prayer ascend to You like incense, and the lifting up of
my hands like an evening sacrifice.
Priest: O Lord, set a guard before my mouth, and set a seal on the door
of my lips.
People: Let my prayer ascend to You like incense, and the lifting up of
my hands like an evening sacrifice.
Priest: Let not my heart be inclined to evil, nor make excuse for the
sins I commit.
People: Let my prayer ascend to You like incense, and the lifting up of
my hands like an evening sacrifice.
Priest: Let my prayer ascend to You like incense:
People: And the lifting up of my hands like an evening sacrifice.
Come Lord Jesus in the Power of your Holy Spirit as your people stand
before you with their hands outstretched. Our prayers of this Paschal
season have gone before you, you have raised us from the dead by your
glorious resurrection. Now Jesus once again, as by a new Pentecost, pour
out on mankind a quickening, an awaking for you a desire, a hunger that
man cannot quench except through loving you. And may LOVE - who you
are Jesus - reign in our hearts that the eyes of our souls are open so
You can no longer be denied. Come Lord Jesus stir up within us, as
Sacramental Christians, every charism and gift granted to us at our
Baptisms, Chrismation/Confirmation, and reception of the Eucharist - that they
become the flame of tongues descending on us as by Pentecost that the
world may truly know you alone Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
