Unfor...I can understand the difficulty with McCain. Unfortunately, a perfect candidate on life issues isn't always there. In 2008 McCain came the closest to the ideal. He was more likely to appoint pro-life judges & be friendly to at least part of the pro-life agenda while Obama was & is clearly anti-life. His whole administration has been an attack on what are called the 5 non-negotiable issues.

McCain was the one who would promote the greatest good & entailed the least evil because he line up better (not perfectly, just better)with the 5 non-negotiable issues. None of the 3rd party candidates were better than McCain. So, given the positions, for me McCain was the best to at least head in the right direction.

In 2006 Catholic Answers out out a guide that would answer a lot of your questions better than I can. You can read it on line at:
http://www.caaction.com/pdf/Voters-Guide-Catholic-English-1p.pdf
Fr. Pavone of Priests for Life has said much the same as what is found in the guide.

Pg 12 of the guide esp looks at your concerns. It makes it clear that while it is acceptable to vote for someone who, while not perfect, will do more to limit evil, it is acceptable to vote for no one.

Hope this helps a little. As I said, it is a difficult issue.Alhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07721319432213055605noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9673280.post-3622591196591039182010-10-27T18:53:02.866-05:002010-10-27T18:53:02.866-05:00I'm definitely opposed to voting for pro-abort...I'm definitely opposed to voting for pro-aborts, but I'm wondering if I could have voted for McCain, a supporter of the grave evil of embryonic stem cell research. Mark Shea promotes the idea that no Catholic should vote for a candidate who supports any grave evils. I'm not so sure, but I'm troubled by the moral dilemma. What do you think?Patrick Buttonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18014672329453331576noreply@blogger.com
